The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service has officially named celebrated gospel musician Ewura Abena as its newest ambassador. This strategic collaboration marks a bold and compassionate step in the ongoing fight against domestic and gender-based violence in Ghana.
Known for her soulful voice and spirit-filled music, Ewura Abena has long used her platform to uplift, inspire, and give a voice to those who had none. Now, as a DOVVSU Ambassador, she can leverage her influence and reach in a very important way—advocating for survivors, raising awareness, and transforming societal perspectives on abuse and victim support.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ewura Abena into the DOVVSU family”, the Unit said in an official statement. “Her voice, both musically and in advocacies, adds strength to our mission; together, we believe this partnership will make a real difference in our communities.”
Under the campaign slogan, “From Silence to Strength: Speak Up, Stand Up, and Let’s Come Together to Support,” Ewura-Abena shall work in public education, community engagement, and media interfacing to raise the voice of DOVVSU’s resources and support services.
This partnership ensures new momentum in the crusade against domestic violence, especially as the country battles the existing cultural silence that too often shadows abuse. Ewura-Abena will galvanize faith-based and youth communities – groups typically at the core of social transformation.
While Ewura Abena will act in this capacity, DOVVSU urges all Ghanaians to join them in solidarity, breaking the silence, and supporting the survivors.
