Gospel Legend Dr Ron Kenoly Dies at 81

Renowned American gospel singer, worship leader, and songwriter Dr. Ron Kenoly has died at the age of 81. His passing was confirmed on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, by his longtime music director, Bruno Miranda, via Kenoly’s official Instagram page. 

Kenoly was one of the most influential figures in modern Christian worship music, with a career that spanned more than four decades. His energetic praise style and live worship recordings helped shape contemporary worship services across the world. 

Born on December 6, 1944, in Coffeyville, Kansas, Kenoly first served in the United States Air Force before pursuing music and later focusing fully on gospel ministry. His breakthrough came with the 1992 album Lift Him Up, which became one of the fastest‑selling worship albums at the time. Subsequent projects such as Welcome Home topped charts and won industry recognition. 

His catalog includes worship anthems like “Majesty,” “Righteousness, Peace & Joy,” “Anointing,” “All Honour,” and “Sing Out,” songs that have been sung in churches across continents. 

Tributes have poured in from around the globe. Nigerian gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey wrote on social media that Kenoly “inspired generations of psalmists,” while church leaders praised his life of humble service and deep spiritual impact. 

Details about the cause of death have not been publicly confirmed by his family or representatives. Plans for memorials or services are expected to be announced soon. 

Kenoly leaves behind a legacy that helped define praise and worship music for multiple generations, and his influence will be felt in worship communities around the world for years to come.
